For ChatGPT
Add the free skills to ChatGPT
In ChatGPT, a Project keeps instructions and files that apply to every chat inside it.
1. Download a skill

v1.0.0 · Oct 2026Takes out the habits that make writing sound machine-made.

Download the skill file
Pick a skill above and download its .md file. Human-centered and trauma-informed files are long; ChatGPT handles them best as Project files (next step), not pasted wholesale into instructions.
Create a Project
In ChatGPT, start a new Project for your organization’s writing.
Attach the file and add one instruction line
In Project settings, upload the .md to Project files. In Project instructions, paste one line that points ChatGPT at the file (use Copy below). You do not need to paste the whole file into instructions when the file is attached.
Start writing inside the Project
Open a chat inside that Project so the file and instructions apply. If a file is too large to upload, paste the file contents into a single Project instruction block instead, or split by section and attach what fits.
Project instruction line: “Follow the attached standard in everything you write in this project.”
Trauma-informed language includes human-centered language. Add human voice as a second Project file when you want respect and trauma-aware practice plus natural phrasing.
Use Projects rather than custom GPTs. OpenAI is retiring custom GPTs on December 11, 2026.
3. Try it
Give it a real request, the kind your team writes every week. For example:
“Write a short donor update about a client who finished our job training program.”
4. Check it worked
Paste the paragraph below into a new message and ask for a rewrite. If the vocabulary tells are gone (stock openers, lists of three, long dashes), the skill is working.
Without the skill
In today’s fast-paced landscape, it’s not just about communication—it’s about connection. We leverage robust tools to delve into what matters: clarity, impact, and meaningful engagement. Whether you’re drafting an update, sharing a milestone, or inviting people in, remember three things: be clear, be human, and be present.
With the skill
People can tell when a message was written for them. Say what happened, why it matters, and what you’re asking for, without the filler. One clear sentence beats three polished ones.
